Cerberus In The Veins Of (Greek) Gods
Inspired in part by Greek Mythology, ‘Cerberus In The Veins Of (Greek) Gods’ created for the EMBRACING THE UNDERDOG in Chinatown for Chinese New Year – Year of the Dog. ‘Cerberus In The Veins Of (Greek) Gods’ as an installation, becomes a set for an anthropomorphic, half wolf half human standing in for Cerberus (The 3 headed hell hound that guards the underworld)
Cerberus writes onto luxurious wallpaper a short poem;
CLENTCH YOUR TEETH,
BITE THROUGH THE MEAT,
LET THE ICHOR,
FLOW TO THEIR FEET
Ichor being the blood of the gods and said to be a flowing of silver/gold. Stirring up various notions of rebellion and challenging ideology. Gods are immortal how can they be hurt?
Once the act is completed the spraypaint, pencil mask and costume are left splayed on the undulating wallpaper as an installation, revealing that indeed the manifestation of Cerberus was a ruse.
Plays on stage and theatre sets and a representation of reality within reality, the idea of anonymity through masks, luxury, mythology – greek in particular, god-human-animal triality, human as animal, human as god, spraypaint/graffiti and rebellion.
